I am in the process of changing my outer CV joint boots. During the "clean the joints" phase, I removed all the ball bearings. I have since learned that this is a no-no. There is no hope of mating ***** to their original seats. I did segregate left side from right side. Is the joint going to self-destruct, or can I put it all back together and go?
If I need new joints, are the ones you can get locally any good, or should I stick to the on-line German auto parts places?
Thanks

I have not been on the highway yet, but things feel ok around town. I screwed up one band clamp (it is a bit askew), hopefully I can find one locally to replace it.
First time I have ever messed with cv joints. Quite the experience.
Next up - a complete tune up, and possibly oxygen sensors.
