Does the type of coolant I use matter as long as I used extended life? Can I mix whats in there.....

No, your 100/A6 either used Pentosin blue (which was OEM coolant up to 8/96) or...
Pentosin red, which is the current coolant used by Audi/VW. These fluids are special types of coolants and are not compatible for mixing either together or with any other coolant (e.g., Prestone). I've heard about a Audi/VW purple coolant that can be added to either the blue or the red OEM coolamts, but I haven't actually seen this fluid. As far as using a differnt type, I would stick with the Pentosin coolants since they are specially formulated for the German cooling systems.

I have a 2.7t 2000 a6 and the service manual says to use g12 (purple)it also goes on to say that you shouldn't mix green g11 with purple g12 make sure to use 40% antifreeze minimum
