Bearing shoulder is located on the inner diameter => removal = push outward. The large inner...

bearing diameter faces towards the wheel hub.

It exits the housing on the wheel side, not the axle side.

And A6Gary is getting at the fact that the bearing also has an orientation. (important when putting the new one back in) The inner races on both sides of the bearing do not have the same inside diameter. The larger diameter inner race faces the wheel side, so that the hub fits in properly.
