door locks

this is just a simple question but I'm sure it has a long answer...
all I'm trying to do with my door locks or whatever the button on the inside of the door is called, you know the one you push to lock and pull to unlock?
well I have noticed that when I lock the car with the key from the outside it locks doors and activates the alarm BUT if the lock is pulled and the door opened the alarm does not sound! ex: tow guy unlocking.
I have seen that on newer VW/Audis the lock button locks flat with the door trim OR can a sensor be added to the locking mechanism to triger the alarm when the key has not been used to open the car?
any solutions? thanks.
