Default I haven't run across that, myself. But KDay has been through it...

I found his thread by searching the 'other' code 17816. See the note on the bottom of the images he posted in the link below.

fwiw, the 12V development forum will be another good resource for you. It's focused on our 12V motor and performance enhancements. A WEALTH of info there.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/67945.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/67945.phtml</a</li></ul>

Wonder if yu can have the sensor discrepancies without any other associated code/s coming on. Would seem like there would be an associated code for flow or something.

Default Yeah, I think "too high" is voltage too high, which means temperature too low.

My guess is either your EGR vacuum solenoid is plugged (BTDT) or the EGR passage which includes the sensor element is plugged. I would remove the solenoid (over on the passenger side near the airbox) and verify that it flows air when energized. If it does then the passage in the throttle body is clogged. If it doesn't pass air, then try soaking it in something. (I tried taking it apart to clean it and ruined it in the process.) In my case both the solenoid valve AND the EGR passage were clogged.

Hmm... I hate this part of this engine. VAG codes seem to make it more complicated and the EGR system with all its vac hoses and blocked passages has got to be the worst I've seen.

Today? No, not today. The EGR temps sensor is located on the passenger side near the TB

If you have the Bentley Book/CD, you can look up that code and follow the diagnostic path

Default Never got a Bently for this car yet...

Was hoping somebody might have had a similar situation with certain results. Incidentally, wife just called and said cel light was on, then after a while went out. Then came back on a few miles later. Can the CEL light go off on its own? I thought you had to do a reader erase to turn it off. Thought it was latching.
Thoughts?

Passenger side? Does everybody concur? Can somebody positively ID it?

I've written the EGR diagnostics in the FAQ's. I'm 100% aware of it's location.
