EGR - Still pinging!
I just finished cleaning out the EGR passage today and it's still pinging!!!!!! Has this ever happened to anyone else?? Perhaps I need to clean the long downpipe that connects to the exhaust?

Re: EGR - Still pinging!
Nope, the valve AND the valve sensor have been replaced (20 and 400 miles ago respectivly). When taking things apart to clean the passage I noticed there was this red stuff sprayed on the side of the EGR valve and some of it was inside of the vale where there were moving parts (on the exposed section). It's stuff is pretty tacky but the valve is brand new. Is this familiar to anyone?

Re: check engine light
Were you able to get the DTC code?
Pinging is related to fueling issues.
Next gas fill-up add a bottle of Techron to your tank, see how it drives. ;O)<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/25047.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/25047.phtml</a</li></ul>

Re: Very important to get the code, as it will reveal the problem! ;o)
The closest free computer check I know of is 50 minutes away. Let's say it is 2114 (or whatever that number is). What would you suggest doing? I'm probably going to take everything apart tomorrow and see if there's any sign of carbon what-so-ever, but if there isn't I'm stuck. I thought it may be that red stuff that looks sprayed to the side of the EGR thats causing it to malfunction.
Correct me if I'm wrong but.. The red tube that connects to the top of the EGR valve goes to a sensor that is supposed to be detecting heat and when it doens't the check engine light comes on? Could that tube need replacing?

Miktip, correct me if i'm wrong but I think the red vacuum line tells the egr when to cycle or not. It connects to a plastic line by the firewall which then goes to a valve solinoid that tells it when to cycle. Be sure to clean the line on the passenger side of the throttle body and all the other egr tubes as they could be plugged.
