Hello all,
I own a '96 A6 2.0l in Malaysia. After sales is crap over here. Of late i've noticed the engine stuttering on idle. Even after a long distance hi speed run, when the rpm comes down to idle, its not stable. The whole feel of the engine seems rough. I've run several diagnostics, and the only fault that comes up is the lambda snsr. A mechanic has suggested changing the airflow meter.. this costs a bloody bomb. Pls help.

could be many things, vacuum leaks,worn plug wires, faulty ISV, not to mention the O2 sensor.

With my passat I had many of the same symptoms, eventually realizing that it only happened on hot days thinking that it has something to do with pressure, i checked all the sensore, replaced plugs, air boot, filter. Then realized that it happened when I had myu AC on. It was a power surge because of the AC, I never trie4d to fix it. I was so annoyed with everything else I just let it go and turned it off when it gopt to be to much.

It is true that it can be many things, before you fix any one thing check everything.

P J lah bro... but my old man driving the car. I'm actually living in Dubai, cos I work there. Where u located bro? Have noticed an improvment by removing the lambda input into the ECU.

I'm in the east coast. alternatively u can adjust the co idle mixture screw.
