Final word on CDT transmission oil?

Guys/gals, I have spent hours searching the web, the archives, ZF website, etc. on which fluid is the proper one to use for a transmission service on my '93 100CS with the 4HP-18 CDT automatic.
There is talk about Esso 71141, which is the same as Audi G52162A1 -- however this fluid can't be found anywhere, the only type around seems to be G52162A2, which is not listed on ZF's recommended lubricant chart (but neither is the 4HP18CDT transmission).
Can someone who "knows" clear this up once and for all? Do I really need to spend $100+ on transmission fluid-- if so, where can it be found (dealer only seems to have the newer spec G52162A2 - is this an appropriate replacement?) -- or is there a suitable, cheaper alternative that can be found in the US (seems that ALL the ZF recommended alternatives are not available in the states).
I found a Universal Synthetic Blend fluid at AutoZone which meets ZF specs TE-ML 02F, 03D, 04D, 14B, 16L, and 17C for $3 per quart. However it doesn't mention 11A/B... (figures).
Thanks!

hey just a bit of useful info.if u need to look up important info about your car.at most libraries they have databases which contain the bently factory manuals on the computer.extremely useful.u will find alot of the info u need for free.
but dont go to auto zone for that stuff get the fluids and filters at the dealer.they know what you need and have the right stuff.its about 12/ltr.hey,u get what u pay for!!!!or if they dont know about ur car go to www.europeanautomotive.com its G 052 162 A1/A2
you need the german stuff not the autozone crap.

thanks.. I thought going directly to the ZF website, and through the posts on the list serv might be good enough. not sure what is so magical about this overpriced trans fluid? it's a little confusing, too, why my factory fill fluid is red (i heard that this famed VW/Audi fluid is yellow), and everything on the car (owner's manual, etc) says dextron II, though the transmission is definitely a CDT.. but i guess that's german engineering!
thanks again.
thanks again.

Your 93 came with Dextron, Audi says you can change to the new yellow fluid. I have been using Dextron in my 92 for 200k miles. I do have my trans flushed every 60k.
