Default Front anti sway bar bushings

How difficult are they to replace? Got the bushings and went to the mechanic. I then saw that you have to remove the engine mountings to get to the top bolt of the bushing cradle. Is that the only way to replace them, or is there another way?
Thanks
Corne

Default I was able to replace the bushings on my 1992. I recall it being quite a puzzle to

get to one or 2 of those top bolts. Don't remember much more than that at this point.

Default I remember...

feeling around the top of the subframe and finding a hole large enough to drop a socket into. Not sure if the wratchet fit up there or if I had to hold it with pliers. I have a large selection of u-joints and flexible extensions that I regularly use in multiple configurations to get things done.

You loosen the front subframe bolts and lower it down a bit, then you can get to those bolts.

I stuck something in the hole to hold the bolt in place, then used a impact wrench to torque it down

Default A "GearRatchet" worked very well on my 93 S4

The total depth of this socket and ratchet is quite small, so it works well in the shallow space above the subframe.
