Default Fuel Filter, I am also changing the fuel filter on the 100S

The metel canister in the engine compartment, passentger side, next to the air box is the fuel filter, I believe someone pointed me to that canister as the fuel filter. Thanks again you all are a great help with my Audi questions.

Default Yes, that IS the fuel filter. Let the car sit overnight before disconnecting- have rags ready too.

contents under pressure.

Remove the fuel cap before the removing the filter - removes the built-up system pressure.

Edit: removes MOST of the fuel pressure, not all. Let it sit for a few minutes with the cap off.

Default More info on changing the Fuel filter on my 100S

I called my dealer today, and they turned me over to a tech, he said the procedure to de pressurize the fuel sytem is as follows, take off the gas cap, wait about 5 minutes then slowly loosen the rear nut of the filter until the gas starts to leak and loosen some more after about three turn you can disconnect the feed line and then disconnect the front line on the filter some fuel will drip from there also, have the rags ready an install is the opposite making sure the arrows on the filter are pointing forward and make sure you tighten the gas cap at least three clicks, There is no reason to disconnect the fuel pump, as this is an accumulator for the FI and you won't get a spray of fuel. Also, you could end up with a check engine light by powering off the fuel pump. Also, check the fuel pump from the rear floor access to make sure it is not leaking when you have the new filter installed.
