Noisy pump so I figured on cleaning the strainer and maybe siphoning off some of the dirt near the bottom of the tank under pump. This was to be a first step before replacing the pump.
No way my fat *** fits in the trunk so I took out back seat and cut the tin where ski bag would go, if it had one. This gave me much better access to the pump cover and I didn't have to contort my body into unnatural positions.
Took off cover, removed gas lines, blew rust and crap off top of flange and removed flange. When I lifted it out, I was expecting to see a pump with the strainer on the bottom. Wrong!!! Top part only connected to the sender for the fuel gauge.
A hose (with wires) went down towards the bottom of the tank. Genttly pulled, but hose is connected to something down there.
Tank was about half full and shining flashlite down there didn't produce anything visible. For sure my arm isn't fitting in the hole, so I put it back together. Runs, but pump is still noisy. I smell gassy and didn't accomplish anything.
Ok, where's the pump and how do you change it? I am really hoping I don't have to pull the tank.
