Hello everyone,
I just got a 1994 100S Avant, with a stock gamma radio - it doesnt have CD Changer controls on it. it doesnt say BOSE either, just gamma.
Since I don't know the code for it yet, i installed my VW radio in there - same plugs. Well, there is no sound in the rear speakers at all.
Question: Which speakers are "Active" - why are the rears not sounding and how would I hook up an aftermarket stereo? Would I need to send the pre-amps to the rear speakers (or to all the speakers?)
Did anyone do this without re-wiring and without changing the stock speakers..
Also, what is the difference between Bose and Gamma radios other than the CD-changer controls that are missing from the gamma? My gamma says Blaupunkt, btw. (I had idea about that before)
Someone please help out. thank you.

This one approaches some of your concerns:<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/17204.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/17204.phtml</a</li></ul>

I, too, have a 94 100S wagon. I was having speaker problems a few years ago and looked into replacing w/aftermarket. Bottom line is that it would have been a total pain. I ended up getting a refurbished head unit from dealer for about $100. It worked fine for about 3 years and is now bad again.
My understanding is that it is only the rear speakers that have built-in amplifiers.
Good luck!
