Default going to do some water pump/timing belt work....

next week and need some advice. I've done all my research and such so i know what i'm doing for the most part. but i had a question about the parts and warranty. I went to autozone and checked there prices on a water pump and its was $92 with a life time warranty. and a Tbelt form NAPA $70 with lifetime warranty. these prices are considerably higher than the ones on the net. i was just wondering would it be worth spending the extra cash and getting the lifetime warranty for these parts and not have to worry about replacng them again. or is the lifetime warranty not worth it. just wondering what you experts think out there.

Default Your first mistake............

Is buying "Audi" parts from NAPA!

Seriously!

Buy Audi parts from places which specialize in "German" cars!

Places like The Parts Connection! Or Performance Motor Cars!

Why?

Because you want to make sure you get a "German" made part! Plus certain name brands of parts are not good. The German parts places wont sell you the junk!

Dont be fooled by that "Lifetime Warrenty" either!
Its all a gimick so they can drive up the prices.

http://www.thepartsconnection.com</a

If the the timing belt or water pump go out what is the warranty going to do for you? The engine will most likely be totalled or need heavy work done. The warranty means nothing!

While this may be true for later cars such as a C4 chassis, there are some things one can get from NAPA which are "unobtainium" now from US Audi dealers... Ur-Quattro ball joints come to mind.

Default "Always avoid Audi Dealers for parts at all costs!" ;O)

Granted they are some parts you "have to" get from the dealer, even then utilize the dealers who give discounts on their parts! Places like Clair.

Many parts are available from other than dealer sources, who charge much less than dealers for OEM Audi parts!

http://www.performancemotorcars.com</a
