...of the wheel holding the airbag in, disconnect the airbag connector behind the airbag, remove the 24MM nut holding the wheel to the steering column.
Note: to be safe, the Bentley recommends disconnecting the ground from the battery.
Put the sport wheel back (it helps if your old wheel is dead center), install 24mm nut, connect airbag, screw in airbag, reconnect airbag under column cover and enjoy!
The torx screws on the back of the wheel (into the airbag) are to be torqued to 5 Nm / 44 in lb.
The 24MM nut holding the wheel on is torqued to 40 Nm / 30 ft lb
If you should happen to get an airbag code (which you shouldn't as long as you don't put the key in the ignition and turn it while you have anything apart) just reset it via VAG-COM.
BTDT in my '95 90 quattro:

You MUST have a wheel from a '96-'97 A4 (some early '98s are the same as well), a '97-'98 Cabriolet or a '95-'97 S6.
As long as the wheel has the faux rivets around the rings (versus the golf ball dimples on the '98.5 to '02) then you're good to go. I.E. the style airbag/wheel in the above picture.
Also, if it's a '98.5-'02 with the faux rivets and tiptronic controls, it won't work either.
