My wagon give me a new year joke in 2005. When I turn off the engine, the key stucks and won't come out. I know it is the famous ignition switch problem but I need to get the key out before I can fix it.

Any idea? I am lucky that she give me the new year surprise when I return home. Otherwise I will get stuck on the road at 12:30am in 2005.

Try pulling on the steering wheel hard each way as you turn the key, also play with the shifter, make sure the safety interlock in there is engaged

Pull the shifter **** up, it is not in park position yet. Mine does the same.

After pulling the shifter, the key comes out finally.
