How to align camshaft´s / timing belt on 2.8 V6 engine ?
I intend to change the thermostat / waterpump on the engine and when i have a closer look on the positioning of the camshaft´s before removal of the timing belt it sems to be something wrong.
Does anyone knows how to make sure that the positioning is OK. The engine seems a little bit weak om high rpm´s so it´s possible that the former owner missed something when he changed the timing belt.

Basically you should absolutely get the Bentley Manuals. To make the timing belt/water pump change easy and accurate, you also should get 2 special tools- the crank shaft holder/alignment tool and the Cam shaft holder/alignment tool. They cost about $180 for both I think. Baum tools is a good source. Some places may offer them for rent. People have done this job without them though.
In short- I think there are markings on both the cams, the crank shaft belt pulley and engine case that all need to line up. Turn the crank by hand (actually you will need a tool to turn it) until the tick aligns, then look at both cams- their ticks should now be aligned.
If you want more details on the entire timing belt/water pump job, email me.
