It sounds pretty wimpy... here's how you can set it off...
Lock the car, with a rear door open. Pull the lock up manually, and then close the door... you'll hear the beep. Then open the door to sound the alarm. =)

Make sure you're doing it right...
1) Open all the windows
2) Lock doors from outside so that you hear the beep
3) Reach into any one of the windows and unlock car from inside.
4) Open door.
Alarm should go off.
