I can't get my VAG-COM to work. Any suggestion?

I've used it on several of my 1999's, and the neighbor's 01 (I think)
I think it starts running into problems with some control modules in 2002 that use a 2nd k-wire. 2005 and newer definitely require the VAGCOM setup.
