I searched on the Audio Forum and kinda' got the ballpark answer but maybe one of you guys can be more specific. I'm trying to wire in a couple of computer cooling fans to cool my a/d/s amp that tends to run HOT(!) Ideally I want to have the fans turn on when the amp is powered up and originally I thought I could run a lead off of the power-on wire to the amp and another wire off the amps power wire. The fans draw very little amperage so some sort of fuse might be necessary.
The advice I'm getting is that I can only run a resistor off of the power on wire so can anyone sort of diagram the best way to get these things to turn on and off with the amp so as not to drain my battery unnecessarily...?
Thanks electronics wizards!

It has three terminals: Gate, Source, and Drain. Conect Gate to the remote power on lead. Connect Source to chassis ground. Connect Drain to the negative lead of your fan(s). Connect positive lead of your fan(s) to +12V from the battery via a fuse to protect the wiring.
You should also pick up a power diode - 4001 type -- and connect the anode to the negative fan lead and the cathode (the side with the stripe) to the positive fan lead. This will protect the MOSFET.
Ah, one other thing: put a 10k resistor between Gate and Source.

I'm not sure which is the power lead or which direction these work, do they suck air out or blow it forward..?

mount them. In the second picture it looks like it will spin counter clockwise and push air out the bottom.
