Get a genuine Audi switch. Check the info in the FAQ for the reason why.

OEM P/N is 4A0 905 849B, runs about $50 from on-line suppliers. The cheaper version runs ~$11.

It looks like the first switch that comes up on autohausaz is the 4A0905849 the brand is a Febi-Belstein and cost is $11 (list price $40) and it says that its for production cars thru Oct 1997 the other part is 4B0905849 Meisterstaze/Meyle and is $22 (list price $72)

I'm not sure which of these to get, there is not a dealer ship close by.

Default I usually check SJM Autotechnik for genuine Audi parts...

They use the Worldpac catalog.

Click <a href="http://catalog.worldpac.com/sjm/012207/quote.jsp?header=http://www.sjmauto.com/header.txt&footer=http://www.sjmauto.com/footer.txt&product=4A0905849B&partner=sjm&baseurl= http://www.sjmauto.com/&clientid=sjm&cookieid=1VA19LXA121K1A3GA6">here </a> for the ignition switch (~$39). For comparison, I bought a switch from an Audi dealer recently. It cost me $40 including state tax.

FYI, Worldpac supplies most on-line suppliers, e.g., Parts Palace, AutohauzAZ, etc.
