I'm looking for a new front grill...

Today I used electical tape and covered the chrome around the front grill. It looks great! It really makes the rings and quattro sign stand out. I'm not gonna keep the tape on there for good, I was thinking about taking the grill off and painting it. Does anyone know where I can get an aftermarket grill that I can still have my rings and quattro sign on it, but the outline is the same black as the horizontal grill slats in the grill.
If I can't find a replacement grill then I will probably paint my existing grill. Am I going to have to do anything special to prep the chrome before I paint it black?

I've also heard that painting the crome is difficult but I think that I am still going to paint it. I'm going to talk to a great local body shop and see what they have to say.
