Jerky Auto gearbox changes

Hi,
Just joined the forum in the hope someone can help with an alarming problem my car has developed.
We have a 1991 Audi 100 C4 2.3 Auto. The car has only done 80,000 miles and has never towed, it has always been maintained at Audi.
Recently, you can really feel the autobox changing from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gears, the car jerks quite noticeably. This happens when the car is hot or cold. It also happens when slowing down from cruising along the motorway, the car jerks as it changes down to 3rd and 2nd gears.
I have changed the ATF fluid and filter, but it has not helped. If you drive the car VERY gently it is not so bad, but if you drive as normal or hard, then the jerkyness is obvious.
Could it be transmission mounts? Are they hard to change?
If anyone has any ideas or has fixed this problem, I would be grateful for any advice, I am totally stuck and do not want to take it to the Dealer really.
Many thanks,
John

I have the exact same problem and have changed filter and fluid.Tranny does same shifting as yours and sometimes feels like it is going to jump out of engine bay when it shifts. Still can not figure out problem. Help if anyone has a solution. Thanks .Paul

I think i've found the problem, it appears to be the rear engine/trans mount, which is split and knackered after 20 odd years. I will probably do the other engine mounts as well, as they are cheap.

if that doesnt solve it, then replace the transmission wire harness. It has a fluid temp sensor built in that goes bad and causes the computer to think its cold all the time and have rough shifts.

That is, if its a 4 Speed automatic trans.
