Has anyone else had to replace a key and remote for a 1997 A6 or similar?

I'm being told that it is going to cost me about $200 for the key and a new remote. Does this sound high to anyone else?

If you're going to spend that much, ask them if they can make a switchblade key work.

I payed approx. $115.00 (to Audi dealer) for the remote and setting it up. They made me another key for approx. $65.00.
I have seen on some site(eBay or AudiFans)an ad about selling blank keys for $15-20.
You need to bring the title to get new keys.
If you want exact amount tell me to check the receipts.

We bought a '97 A6 off a lot with no remote, and the dealer (not Audi) thought the key light was the missing remote. When I clued them in, they said...."no problem we'll order you one, fer nuthin'". That changed when they found out they had to charge $140.
