this last weekend, i pulled the big, double relay in hopes of finding the gremlin. i'd hoped to find a leaking capacitor, dirty relay contacts or something like that.

problem is the thing has two little circuit boards sandwiching the chips and relays between them. other than tearing them apart, i couldn't see much that was on the surface of either board or get at the relay contacts. i looked real close under a magnifying glass at the traces and solder joints, but not luck finding a crack.

so, i'need to replace this sucker and hope there is someone out there with a cheap source for a new one. this seems to be a common problem and my bet is a used one is just waiting for it's time to die.

the relay will chatter after turning off the car and getting out. the driver's window will also close at some time after walking away. sometime within a minute. other times more. the only way to stop the chatter/window close is to turn the ignition on after closing the door. getting my bulk out a window would then present a problem.

however, since i have a remote start, i can do it from outside the car.

even though i have a "fix" i still want to replace the relay but suspect the dealer wants big bucks for it. it is made my seimens and i wonder if anyone has a avenue other than the dealer.

audijim, you mention you have remote start, is your audi a manual by chance?

There is an wire that can be cut to solve this problem, but it will disable the ability to close the windows from the outside with the key.
