have a 95 A6 quattro automatic. on a couple of occaisions when the transmission is warm it has failed to engage the reverse gear when parked. (It's a bit embarassing to be seen pushing your Audi out of a parking spot) Any ideas of what may be causing the problem? I have 147K KM and I don't think the transmission fluid has ever been changed.

well, thats not good. Changing the tranny fluid is quite important. Start by checking the level, but more importantly look to see if it smells burnt or looks spent. Check the codes, also. However, failure for reverse to engage points to the reverse clutch in the tranny, not a good thing. Good Luck.

Had codes checked and nothing shows. If it were the clutch you would think it would happen all the time. It's only occaisionally and only when very warm like after a long drive at highway speeds. I've got my fingers crossed its just low on fluid or needs a change.
