Default Re: My suggestion...

I found out what the whining sound was. It happened today and I turned off the fan for the climate control (as someone had suggested), and it stopped.

Blah. Well, bad news. Today, I was in an accident. I've had my baby for less than a freaking WEEK, and of course, some tool who sucks at life has to get on the road and plow right into me.

They were doing construction on the interstate and traffic was stopped. This guy driving a big moving truck wasn't paying attention and slammed right into the back of me at least at 20 mph.

The pic doesn't really do it justice. the brake lights are cracked, the bumper is off on both sides. The right qtr panel is dented in about 6 inches, and the left about 1/2 inch.

I am so angry. Ugh.

We'll see. The insurance company may take care of it, they may not.

Default Why would bad/whinning fan bushings be throttle sensitive though?

I'm not saying you haven't found the problem, just asking so I can learn more about the cars.

I've got the twin to your car. Same color, interior etc with about 62k miles. Great car, just did the t-belt on mine.

62k? Jesus. How did you manage to find one with that low mileage? Are you the original owner?

Also, one other thing I noticed with my car, when I start it up, the display says In 2. What does that mean? Is it a malfunction of some kind?

My wife bought it in 99 when it was coming off a lease at the dealer with 25k. She only drives 5k per year of so. She just got an 02 A4Q 3.0 that came off lease and I took the A6. Plan on keeping it a LONG time. Mine does the in2 thing also--has something to do with service interval but I ignore it as I do most maintenance myself. Great car-I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Default Front end-strut,control arms,ect...on 98(but really 97) qua. wagon

I have the last of the old style A6 with under 80k and the front end is trashed. not sure why with this number of miles. the right strut is off center and the ball joints and sway bar bushings and tie rod ends are all in need of replacement. Also cv joint on fight needs replacing.

I have the parts but no manual and need advice.
ican't get the inner end of control arm free. Is there a sleeve that needs to come out as well as the bolt? i have removed the bolts but nothing except the tie rod wants to come free...Help!!
