Just went to dealer and they told me I need a Speed sensor which is located at the rear wheel.
They want 450 bannanas.. I dont know if i should attempt myself or what..Anyone know a good mechanic for my 96 A6q, In Balt MD area. Both Antilock Off and Brake lights are on, maybe these also need to be reset after work has been done.
Help Guys, Wife is going to kill me..

Default The wheels have sensors that detect rotation/speed....

They Check the speed on all four wheels to determine if one is slipping, If the system detects that one wheel is travelling slower than the others it has probably lost traction causing the ABS to fire.

Replacing the sensors on the rear wheels may/may not be difficult, the assembly is simple to find,
on the back of the wheel hub there is a smaller gooved wheel. The sensor is a magnetic device about the size of a pencil eraser. (It will probably be covered in metal shavings).

Before you do anything I would reccomend cleaning them.

I'll look around tonight and see if I can find a schematic.

Sam.
