Default need help timeing belt noise

Mine is a 95 Audi A6. After changing timing belt last week, there is squeaky noise when car is in idle. The mechanic say it is because of poor serpentine belt which I bought it new myself from partsbin.com. Is it true? If not, what could be the problem?

Thanks a lot.

Default Check the plastic covers

Make sure the right (passenger) side timing belt cover is fitted into the slot or channel in the crank pulley cover. I had a similar problem and I think that was the cause.

Remove the Surpentine belt and run the car. If the noise is gone then you thats the problem.

I agree with Disco Stu. If the waterpump and tensioner was not changed - do it now before it's too late. A wrecked waterpump migth result in damages leading to a wrecked timing belt a.s.o.
Normally the waterpump will not outlast the timing belt !!

Default I agree with Samm

Remove the serpentine belt and run the engine. If that solves the problem, then we'll have to figure out where the squeak is comming from...

Default without covers you can remove and replace

the serpentine belt in less than the time it takes to make a pit stop in Nascar....
