Default A nice surprise...cool stereo.

I finally found a faceplate on Ebay for the stereo that came along with the repo'd A4 I bought last summer. Normally I'm a straight 'stock' guy, but given that the wife wants to play CDs without going to the boot, this thing is pretty cool.

I spoke with the previous owner who said the car had been equipped with a Sony Playstation and some other cool gear...most of which disappeared at the impound lot. Thankfully enough of the system was left intact that the faceplate was a plug and play...and it sounds great!

Being the pessimist that I am, I predict the car will soon be broken into and trashed in the process of stealing the head unit. Oh well...

Default err, sand/dremel the top left and right side of the faceplate

same thing happened with my faceplate, and I sanded off the edges to not have the middle slump down like that at the top.
I also sanded it down and painted it a matte black to match the rest of the interior buttons vs the dark gray it comes in.

otherwise, noice!

Default Cool.... but aside from a nav system what purpose does an LCD up front serve?

Playstation? DVDs? Why the heck does anyone want that in the front seat...?

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out a way to make that not sag. Thanks for the tips.

Default Purely novelty for the wife, that and the fact it looked like more of a PITA to

sort thru the wires and install one of the stock head units I have stashed.

I like the idea of patching in a nav system. The menu screen had an option for one.

Default I think the suprise is that it still works!

Every time I see a car with an aftermarket stereo, nothing is hooked up right.

Looks like a Metra. You need walnut veneer!
