ok its slowly getting to be the time i want to change my transmission fluid. my 92 audi has a transmission fluid check stick.. i dont know if this is an original 02 stick or just some stick they found and put into the car.. when i drain the fluid out of the trans how many liters will i approx get OR SHOULD GET.. the dipsticks show that there is more than enough in the transmission however the trans shifts rough every now and then so ill do that. i change the fluid and clean the filter on my corolla every 40K miles and the things shifts like new. when i drain the fluid will the torque converter also be drained or should i "flush" the system by driving with new atf for 50-100miles and then drain it and refill it. also audi fluid specific question: do i need to buy trans fluid at the audi dealer or can generic atf dex3 be fine? i bought some atf special import. yellow or red fluid? i read one time that some transmissions have yellowish fluid. i got the filter kit and a new gasket so that should do it. also when refilling any tricks with getting the right volume into the trans? having it at a specific temp (measuring with vw tool or normal temp probe) and then filling up or having excess drain out. can to much fluid damage the transmission?

for a change is listed as approximately 2.7 liters (2.9 qts). For initial fill, the fluid amount is 7 liters (7.4 qts). The only fluid you should use is "ATF-Dexron". The specified procedure for checking & replacing ATF is listed as follows:
- Vehicle on level ground (da!).
- Selector in "Park".
- Engine running at idle.
- With engine cold, the fluid level should extend up to the 20 deg C mark on the O2 dipstick. If not, top up.
- Warm ATF to 60 - 80 deg C (140 - 176 F). Temp is checked using VAG 1551 (or VAG-COM) if you have it. I guess you could also use a temperature probe/thermocouple on the pan to come close to measuring the actual fluid temp.
- Fluid should be between "Min" and "Max" on the dipstick at temp.
There is no mention of flushing the system and replacing after a few miles. Based on my experience and the manual, I wouldn't bother with it.
