obd code P1423,P1411 Sec. Air injection sys
I got a check engine light that is coding low air flow on the Secondary Air injection Sys bank 1 & bank 2.
Can someone tell me if this is an air pump problem and where it is located on the engine.
I have a '97 A6, 2.7 Ltre

Secondary air pump is located on the right side of the engine, below the air filter box...
Check for broken hose(s), which is/are a common problem.

air pump only runs cold
Thanks, you were right on. I had a cracked hose.
Can you tell me if the pump is supposed to run all of the time. Because mine runs when the engine is cold for only about 45 secs. then shuts down. If I start the car warm it won't come on.

No, it runs as you describe then shuts off. The purpose of this system is to pump excess oxygen...
into the exhaust when cold to create a secondary burn and reduce unburned hydrocarbons.
