Default OBD II Code P1411 (Secondary Air Flow ...?). Is this similar to P0401?I 've searched the FAQ and...

it talks about the EGR valve and P0401 but nothing about P1411.

The light has come on twice in the last 5 weeks. Both times when the gas tank is at or below 1/4 tank (which may be a coincidence - OR NOT??). The code can be cleared and it takes 2 or 3 weeks to come back. I presume its real and I have to do something. Just not sure what. (I did read Todd's EGR valve write-up).

Default Secondary air injection comes on right after you start the engine

You'll hear what sounds like a hair blow drier fire up right after you start the engine. It'll run for about 2min.

I can't remember all the details, but it seems like the system is looking for the blower to activate, and then a certain amount of air pressure to be created, to confirm that the blower is running, and that the air injection tubes aren't broken. If there's an air leak from broken tubes, it'll trip the CEL.

Take off your top engine cover and inspect all of the corrogated black plastic tubing. I think you'll find it's brittle and cracked. You can to temporary repairs by slipping hose over the cracked areas and zip-tie it in place, but it's worth it just to replace the sections with new from the dealer.

In OBD2 you'll need to go into "Basic Settings" mode, and then toggle through all of the measuring value blocks and do the things it asks in certain screens. When you get up into the higher number value blocks, you'll find the one that tests the Secondary Air Injection. Let it do that test.

When you're all done, you can go into "Readiness Codes" and look to see that everything's been reset.

Hope this helps.

Default Hmmm...I think the CEL has always come on while I have been driving for some time. However, ....

when I first got the car, I heard the "hair dryer" on start-up. Lately I haven't. But then again. When I first got the car, the radio wasn't working but now it is (I had to get codes from a dealer). So I am probably drowning out the hair dryer.

I will listen for the noise and check the hoses tomorrow.

Thanks.
