then it's blowing on to the exhaust (cat) and smelling. If it were just the cooler would it be all over the oil pan?? If it were the oil pan could it get over on the cooler?? A little over a quart thousand- but it looks like a bit more than at last oil change.
Is the pan gasket a big deal-ie what else has to come off!!
The smell when I stop is probably more annoying that the relatively small amout of oil I'm losing.
(There is another oil leak thread below but I didn't want to hijack it-green audi100- though a similar problem maybe)

I had a similar problem, oil would leak onto my exhaust and eventually it got so bad that white smoke started pouring into the car. Id lost alot of oil and i thought it was the cooler gasket as it was covered.. After cleaning it up and getting my dad to check it out we realised it was just a burnt out O-ring at the bottom of the dipstick column. Cost me £2 to replace.

oil cooler O ring (leak near the oil cooler)
oil preasure sender leak (pull the connector and look on the sender)
both easy and cheap to replace.

You can see it thought the accessory belt - it is a 1" rubber cup with a single wire. You can pull of the rubber cup and look, if you will see any oil underneath. If you see the oil, you will need to replace the sender ($11 at dealership).
