Default Please Help!!!!

I bought a 1993 Audi 90 three months ago. The automatic transmission went out 6 days after I bought it. It has been sitting in a tranny shop for three months now. The problem they are having is:

They replaced the transmision with a donor car same numbers on the donor trans as the original.
The car's new tranny shifts like a dream, however after about 15-20 minutes the car will shift into third gear and stay there. You turn off the ignition and restart the car and the car shifts normally. Does this sound like an electrical problem or a mechanical one? Any help is greatly apprecitated. I miss my car and after making 3 months of payments on it I am getting really frustrated.

Staying in third gear means it's in "limp-home" mode. Start off by reading the TRANNY DTC's!!

Default Well.........

First off your posting in the wrong forum! ;o)

There is a "90" forum!

Second, your trans is electronically controlled.

It also has its own computer brain(TCU), seperate from the engine.

Its shifting is also electronically controlled.

You will need to need to get the DTC(Diagnostic Trouble Codes) as QCrazy mentioned. This involes plugging in the car to get the stored codes.

It could be the trans, its TCU of a bad sensor?

You wont know until you get the DTC codes read.

You also need to take it to a shop who has "Audi Experience"! ;o)
