my 1996 a6 revs at about 3200 rpm when goin 90 /100 km/h. i think its a little high. i can feel it go through all 4 gears but when im on the hihway and hit 4th gear the rpm will just climb with my speed. does this tranny have overdrive?

Of course the rpm will climb with your speed, in any gear.

60 mph = 2800
65 mph = 3000
70 mph = 3200
75 mph = 3400
80 mph = 3600

i know what you mean (blazethis)but the rpm needle is in the same posistion as the mph needle posistion. the car could use a taller final drive gear but never happened. killing feul economy when cruzing.
i would like to customize a manual trans to cure the problem if i can ever get one.

The American models must have different final drive specs. Our models were based on the European specs.
At 160kph/100mph our cars rev at 3800rpm.
