Is it possible that a leaky a/c compressor could just be the o-ring?

or gasket for the compressor that's hardened and is leaking? I've learned that most a/c compressors have gaskets/o-rings that will go bad. Since the compressor is still spinning and working, does this seem like a possible problem for a leak?

Most of the compressor seals are servicable but no one wants to do it. Usually its the input shaft seal behind the clutch. You need a puller to get the clutch off as well as a new seal. Good luck finding it. You also need to know the air gap setting for the clutch and the adjustment requires shims, good luck finding them too!
