I looked at the power steering hose and do not see any wetness. I cannot see where the hose connects to the rack.
Shouldn't you see some wetness if that is leaking?
Attached is a pic of the power steering pump. Do it look like it is leaking? The lower right hand hole looks dark. I don't know where these things leak if they do.
The PS pump (I think) groans a bit on cold mornings
What kind of PS Fluid do we use, Synthetic or Mineral based??? What is in there now? Pentosin 7.1 or 11S?
Any thoughts?

i got this huge leak that's dripping on my right cat ....mine looks like it's coming from rack...
i bought the car with zero power steering fluid in it ....the pump was whining big time....i put pentosin steering fluid in it(mineral)and it was pouring on the ground...not dripping...pouring like when you change the oil and you're half way done draining.
Anyway,i kept on adding more and more and it stopped...it's now dripping bit by bit but the level in the reservoir stays in between the specs...i have power steering and there's no noise coming from the pump.....how can that be?
I took the plenum out and checked the high pressure hose...there's nothingn wrong with it...the bottom part of the rack however was soaked....bad news,ha?
I'll definately have it checked by a mechanic because that fluid on the cat might ignite if getting too hot and i don't wanna risk it....i'm not driving it....
Anybody has seen this problem before?
Do i need to change the rack?
Thanks in advance!

usually it's a torned rubber boot that's causing it then probably the hoses.
Shops rarely change boots on the rack. They would rather you get a newly conditioned rack with a core exchange arrangement. Check Blauparts.com on their specials for p/s rack for the C4.

Wouldn't it be wet where the leak is? That is the problem, the hose
is dry and so is the rack. The only wetness that I get is coming down the back of the engine. So I am wondering if the pump could be leaking into the V between the heads and getting blown back and down the back of the engine and onto the trans and finally on to the cats.
