hi all...
The tube on the top/side of the coolant tank (overflow/pressure relief hose?) has been causing problems starting about two weeks ago... finally after a long trip I saw that it had sprayed some coolant in the engine compartment... long story short... the plastic tube that connects the coolant tank to the hose has started to cracked causing air and coolant to *sputter* out... this plastic tube is about 1.5 inches in length.
what can I do besides *replace* the coolant tank? I replaced the hose clamp yesterday and tried some gasket sealer (I didn't have anything else on hand). I was thinking of super glue, but the tank gets too pressurized and hot that the super glue would probably melt or break. Glue from a hot glue gun would probably melt off when the tank gets hot. My last resort before replacing the tank is to melt the plastic with a soldering iron to reseal the crack and adding some foreign plastic to re-enforce![Wink](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
any help is appreciated... hopefully there is some compound that can seep into the cracks to seal the tank, and at the same time can withstand the temperature and pressure...

Use it to fill the cracks and smooth it off before it dries. Let it dry for about an hour or however long the package tells you too. Then reconnect. It may not last long, but one repair that I did like this has held up for 2+ years.

I have the same thing going on with our '95 A6q Avant. Ordered a replacement tank yesterday from my favorite parts guy, Rod Ramsey at The Parts Connection (www.thepartsconnection.com) for 40 bux.
