Radiator coolant

Radiator coolant
G11 coolant is no longer in production. Intend to substitute by a "pink" color type(change coolant). Flushing required if I need to change the fluid. But why do I need distilled water? Understand that ion-water, de-ionised upon contact with metal substantance. Also, the pink color type may affect seals/gaskets as mentioned in previous posts. Is that true?

Audi issued a Tech Bulletin 10/30/96 that the new "pink" coolant was now being used...
The TB stated that to switch from the old green/blue, the system is to be drained and filled with distilled water, engine run for 2 minutes minimum. After the engine is cool, drain and refill with the new pink G012 coolant/distilled water mixture.
In case you want to stay with the old green/blue coolant, the brand is Pentosin, who makes the OEM coolant (both blue and pink) - you can buy Pentosin on-line or at a good local foreign car parts store.
