Rear wiper problems
Hello forum members. I am new to the forum having just bought a 94' A6 estate 3 weeks ago.
When i purchased the car the rear wiper was not working. The fuse had blown and i have put a new fuse in only for that to also blow. I have since changed the motor and still it does not work. I am not that electrically minded but think it may be a relay? Any suggestions would be a great help.

If the fuse blows as soon as you turn on the rear wiper...
Then you have a short somewhere in the cables... Test the rear motor independently with a 12V battery or a laptop AC chager (they give out 12-16V and this is OK to test). Once you have confirmed that the wiper motor works then start tracing the +ve cable coming from the fuse box to the rear motor.. look fo rth eshort or better still change the cable by runnig a new one. There could be something in the switch but the switch only turns on and off the power with ususally no -ve connection so chance of a short are little..

Re: If the fuse blows as soon as you turn on the rear wiper...
Found the problem. An Audi technician suggested i look at the cable where it transfers from the tailgate to the car roof (next to the hinge). On taking the rubber cover off i was faced with x2 wires completely broken and various other wire covers cracking. He said that after hundreds and hundreds of opening and closing of the tailgate it can often cause the wires to weaken and snap.
Have re-wired all the broken and damaged wires and everything works A1. Result!
