Best left for a professional tranny rebuilder. ZF (OEM manufacturer) also offers rebuilts.

Default Re: From personal experience....unless the proposed transplant is

known in terms of its operation and source, do nothing else but buy a rebuild from ZF themselves. Don't put yourself in the hands of a tranny rebuilder that maybe questionable. I had mine done by a so called reputable tranny shop and the repair lasted about a year and half. You cann't beat a ZF rebuild, they are done by experts and tested before shipped. These trannies are not simple beasts, they are the most expensive and most complex component in your car.

Smokiesman may have an economical alternative, however outside of that, do yourself a favour in the long run.

Default I found a tranny for my 92 for $250

last fall I replaced my tranny in my 92 100s, looked all over a found themn ranging from $250-$1300 found one for $250 just a hr from me with 80k on it and almost one year later works great. Over all it was a pretty easy replacement. just take the time to look around for pricing, I have seen several good deals on Ebay just make sure you get a warrenty, mine came with a 30 day, and for those 30 days I ran it real hard..... and changed fluids 3 times
