Default Remote FCC ID needed for 1997 Audi A6 Avant

Hi guys,

I got a 1997 A6 Avant this summer which didn't come with the remotes. I didn't think will be such a pain to find the right remotes. After looking around I though I found the right one (FCC ID: MZ2 410 819 4) and even bought it off eBay. Didn't work, maybe the remote is bad, maybe the FCC ID is not right.
I'm asking for help in identifying the right remote ID. Dealer didn't want to tell. Here are some specs, maybe there is someone out there with similar car and can give the number from the remote. The car is 1997 A6 Avant in papers, but was manufactured in 09/1996. The vacuum pump include the central locking system as well (there isn't a separate central locking module as in the previous years), and the part number is 8L0 862 257 B. I got a Valet entry system after reading web postings that is actually easy to install aftermarket systems. But the wiring from the vacuum pump is no joke to me even with the Bentley manual. I might give it a try, but maybe I still have a chance for the original system (plus I get to use the seat memory system). Thanks for any suggestions!

I tried both methods I knew about: use 2 keys, one to turn ignition on, second to lock the doors from outside. After that press the remote unlock button 1 to 4 times (for , wait 6 seconds and press it again. The other method is from Bentley manual and is for infrared remotes (doesn't include the 6 seconds waiting time and the last unlock button press).

Default If you have vacuum pump for locks then you have the old style central lcoking,

I think in 97 they switced to electric locks, which is why the new remote fobs are diffrent. They now include a panic button also. I now that if you have a 97 you can get an early style two button with panic flip key and program that remote to work.

The fcc id is on the alarm control box under the rear seat. Its on the drivers side and is a litle silver box, unscrew it and flip it over to get the fcc id number, I have a 96 and thats where I found mine.

My remote is a two button, but if you have a 97 you shouldn't have the airlocks as far as I know.

Default You have a 96 model that was made after the months they declare it a 97 model.

So you actually have a 96, as said before 97 and newer Audi's have electric locks I think, 96 older have airlocks.

That being said you will probly need an older keyless remote.

Just check the FCC ID number under the box under the back seat.

Thanks! This has the air locks with the vacuum pump next to the battery. I checked the alarm module, but didn't find any #. I would post pictures but I don't know how is done. The alarm module part number is 4A0 951 173. I know the previous years might have had a central locking module positioned on the same left side under the rear bench as the alarm module is. There is a posting showing how to connect an aftermarket keyless system to this type of system. I wish I had that type.

What is your 2 button remote FCC ID? I'll give it a try if I find one on eBay. I guess programming is not different than for the infrared one. Thanks!
