remote problem

It doesn't say in the manual and I've tried a number of different procedures.
I reprogramed mine once using the FAQ procedure but after some stereo work I can't seem to get it back.
The local dealer says they'll do it for free but I need to leave the car all day 'cause they're not really sure how to do it, they just mess with it until it takes.
I'd love to see any ways that have worked for people.
Thanks,
John

Put a second key (not the ir remote you are programming) into the ignition and switch it on (not the car running). Close the door and lock it MANUALLY with the IR key. Now point the IR key at the receiver and push the button the # of times for whatever seat memory position you want that key programmed for (should beep after each press of the key). Once done wait 10 seconds and try the key again. It should unlock the doors for you and now be programmed.
