Default ringing sound. . . anyone?

My car makes a ringing sound. I thought it was coming from the brakes, as I just had the rear pads replaced. However, when I press the brakes the sound still comes up into my open window, ring singing, kind of like. Anyway, it is an anoying sound. I am going back to the shop that did the brakes. I haven't paid yet. Any pearls of wisdom?
On a higher note. These are killer cars. I got mine a couple weeks ago. Thanks

Where's it coming from? Ringing? I'm having a hard time imagining it.

Default you meen brake squeeling?

This can be caused if anti-squeel wasn't put on the back of the pads. You can pick this up at most automotive parts shop.

Default That wold be correct (sound still there with brakes applied). Does it sound like a telephone or a

person running their fingernails across a chalk board? Which is closer?

Default Based on the additional info, it's something to do with your brakes.

Need to back the pads with anti-squeal, or better set the pads and rotors... sand the surface of the pads a tad to get the glazing off, maybe also scrub the rotors.

Default Metal heat shield?

Metal heat shields and other shrouds make become distorted so that they vibrate against something and make a ringing sound. My daughter's Escort made such a sound and I found it was the heat shield on the exhaust just barely touching the muffler.

Default Brake rotor shield

One other thing. I recall that the metal shield on a rear brake rotor on another car vibrated, touching metal, also making a ringing sound.
