Hey Everyone -
I am now the proud owner, or rather, my wife's now the proud owner of a 1996 Audi A6 Quattro. Unfortunatly, the owner's manual has gone missing, so the dealer has ordered one for me. Can someone out in Audi Land tell me how to set the memory for the seats and such ?
Thanks.
Charlie

Press on/off putton so it's DOWN ... in the on position.
Press and hold the number you want to set, and the seat and mirrors will be set to that number. Adjust and do the rest.
Your mirror adjuster buttons can be pushed in to adjust the RIGHT side mirror, and then when it's in that position, the passenger side mirror will tilt down when the car goes into reverse. Car smarts!

Each time I press and hold one of the buttons, instead of saving my current seat position, it resets back to the original owner's (who happened to be very short) position.
Help?

Okay, so. You make sure that the ON/OFF button is down, for on. Then, set the seat and mirrors. Then, Hold the center "Memory" bar (this is the part Muhammed forgot...), and hold one of the preset numbers. You should hear a very light "click" sound, which means that the setting is programmed. To test, move the seat and then hold the preset number without the "memory" bar (like you've been doing until this point). It should move to the position you programmed.
If this doesn't help, I almost feel compelled to call you on the phone to help out, but short of that, you can also e-mail me about it if you'd like.
Also, note that each different remote keyfob is capable of being programmed to a different preset seat position. But I have no clue how to do this
. If you can't figure out which setting is for the keyfob, maybe program all 4 to different settings, and see which one it switches to. To test, close the car, lock it with the remote, then unlock it with the remote and open the door (the seat won't move until the door opens). Then, you can program one of the settings for yourself, if you feel so inclined.
*Slightly humourous story time.*
A friend of mine saw that I had 4 presets for my seats and mirrors when we were test driving the car before I bought it. He said "oh, cool. 4 settings. One for you, one for me, and one for Nick, with one left over." I replied, "My father never even got to drive the last car I had. What makes you think you'll get to drive this one, much less have a seat preset for you?" Fortunately, he laughed (he's much bigger than me).
Well, hope this helps!

Simply press the preset number on the door or use the keyless entry.
However... on my Audi the presets only work if the car is in neutral. So if you are driving down the road and try to move to a different preset it will not move for you.
