Slight surface rust/corrosion inside right passenger side door well, ideas on how to treat?

^ How to treat without a body shop visit. ^
Scrape off loose paint & rust with a small knife, blow the area dry and treat it with phosphoric acid (Naval Jelly is fine) & wipe off the residue and then prime and finally paint with a small touch up brush or spray paint. I hate to tell you but if the paint is bubbling up you very likely have the beginning of rust thru but not always. With practice solid colors can be touched up quite nicely with a brush but metallic colors have to be sprayed or the areas are usually quite noticeable which is why I prefer non metallic colored cars for every day drivers. Best results are obtained with a touch up brush by filling in chips in 2 or 3 or even 4 applications of paint with drying time in-between which could only be 10 or 30 minutes on a hot day. Work in the shade. I usually use a small model builders brush with the hairs cut on a 30 degree angle with a razor but there's touch up brushes being sold now that the end looks like a very very tiny Q-tip. I put a few drops of paint in the center of a paint lid and then a few drops of suitable thinner or reducer in the lids edge and work back and forth between the 2 to keep the paint consistency correct. If you have to bring your car to a body shop give them 2 small jars, one for touch up paint and the other for a shot glass of suitable thinner or reducer. Good luck. ~ John Buchtenkirch
