So my friend sold his C4 to another fiend and somehow along with the deal I have to change the ATF tonight for them.
The car has over 267K on it and still original ATF in there. I don't plan on changing the filter tonight but just draining out and putting new ATF in. What can I find in town that will be acceptable to put in?
I guess when it is cold the shifting is not all that great but once it warms up they say it works fine. After putting in some new fluid today I was going to drain it and change again this weekend time putting a new filter in.
What is OK to put in there as far as ATF goes?
<heads off to the C4/100 FAQ to get learned>
Last time the car was over, getting new front axles...

Is this accurate for the C4 A6 FWD Auto Tranny?
Found it by way of the FAQ here...<ul><li><a href="http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/auto_transmission/autotranservicing.html">A8 ATF/Filter Change</a></li></ul>

new fluid so didn't want to clog up a brand new filter while doing a flush cycle. Note not flushing with anything but new ATF. Plus they didn't get the new filter yet and I'm not a parts runner!
This AFT change tonight would be a flush in essence. Still you say hold off until they bring a filer & gaskets over?
Also, looks like Blau is saying M1 Dex III ATF is suitable for the 4spd 95-98 C4 A6. Thoughts?

I'd go with the OEM Pentosin fluid from AutohausAZ.com

Just do a normal fluid and filter change. Once. Forget all this nonsense about the new fluid flushing things out, etc. It's not gonna happen. Just change the fluid and filter and be done with it.
...and use the fluid Dave suggested.
