I'm looking for a 5k/200 avant to do a CNG conversion to. At $0.63/gallon it's too appealing
not to explore. I need the avant to carry the fuel cells and I need a pre-OBDII car for the emissions issues. I can pick up a venturi type kit for less than $1k excluding the tanks.

how about a 1992 100 q wagon?
only drawback is it's probably an automatic<ul><li><a href="http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/car/677629204.html">http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/car/677629204.html</a</li></ul>

Isn't the ECU OBD II?
I had seen that add. I'm also thinking the turbo charging will help with the high compression needs. CNG is most effient at Diesel compression ratios - 13:1 to 18:1. A turbocharged bottom end should be able to take the abuse.

Hydrogen or Brown's gas generators just might be the answer.
I got interested in this because I'm involved in cutting out the stainless plates for the generators. The guy manufacturing these has given me another order, he claims some company tried them on 3 trucks and now wants to convert the rest of the fleet of about 40 trucks. The beauty of all this is you can do it with the engine that's in your car right now by retarding the timing and changing what the oxygen sensors read. Apparently only a small percentage of Brown's gas speeds up the flame front of gas quite a bit. If you want to research this a bit go to www.youtube.com and search "hydrogen generator" or "water car" or "brown's gas". No one is claiming to run their cars on only hydrogen or Brown's gas but they are claiming mileage increases of 20% & 30%. Maybe it's mass hallucinations --- I don't know (I'm only a broken down old body man/fabricator with a high school education) but I think something just might be going on here. I can tell you that the guy i'm involved with is putting a teaspoon of baking soda in with the water, other than that I truthfully have never seen his unit completed. I'm not selling these so I can only say "buyer beware" but looking on youtube is free, maybe someone a lot smarter than me will figure out what's going on here. ~ John Buchtenkirch

1995 and older are OBD I, so you'd be fine with a 100 or A6 from 1992 to 1995
the engine is a V6 12V, normally aspirated.
What size tanks are you thinking about using?...and why wouldn't they fit in the trunk of a normal Audi?

Oh, I didn't realize that - that opens new possibilities. Depending on the tank/system PSI,
3000 or 3600, an 8 gge (gasoline gallon equivalent) is about 16" dia x 48" long. That puts it outside the frame rails on my 90. I'd like to keep all the bits inside the crumple zone.
