Default Some good pics for Valley pan/Egr/Intake job. 97a6Quattro

Tackled the Valley Pan,Plugs, Egr cleanout, and throttle body cleanout this weekend. What a task.
I'm glad I did it but it was not too fun. Anyways, there aren't many pics of this engine around on here for some reason. Here's the link.

Were both surfaces dry when you put the new gasket on or did they still have some oil on them?

Default Yeah. I took a rag with cleaner and wiped both surfaces.

I also used rtv silicone thinly on both sides of the gasket. The old gasket, as you can see, was leaking out on all sides. It needed to be done bad. Cleaning out the dirty throttlebody really helped with the justification as well. I couldn't pass emissions so I had to clean out the EGR tube while in there. I don't know how anyone could really clean that passage without having the intake and throttle body apart. Mine was so dirty. I passed emissions today thank god. They wanted to fail me because my CEL didn't work! WTF? I changed the bulb and all is well. Special thanks to "Audimick" of of here. He lent me the VAG. Thanks!

Default Hmm? After looking at my V.PAn pic. I'm wondering........

If you look at my gasket and the oily residue below it on the right. It almost looks like it could comeout of that large black tube running parallel as well? Just a breather tube?? I hope so. I really didn't scan around when I was in there enough.

Default How do you tell it was leaking? Is it the dark spots underneath the gasket? Also, where did you

get the gasket?
