Default speaker question

I'm swapping out the stock speakers, as in taking them out and replacing every last one of them. Any help regarding removal or instalation would help. Also i have no clue what to do regarding a head unit... I have the bose tape deck and as sweet as tapes are i would really like a head unit.

Yeah you will have to run at least new wires to the back two speakers. You can install a set of 5.25" components in the stock location in the rear and up front you should be able to run a set of 4 inch components if you can find them. Alpine X type has 4 inch components and that is what I am running up front and in the rear I am running R Type components with an Alpine CDA-9820XM CD/MP3/XM Satellite Radio receiver, mounted the littel antenae on the dash up at the front and everything works like a charm!

Default I believe you will have to change the head/amp...

if you are replacing the speakers, because the audi/bose system has a different ohmage.

Default actually, if you cut the amps out of the loop

You can use the existing wiring. I too, many years ago pulled a bose out and replaced it w/ an aftermarket unit. Just like everyone else I pulled off the door panels and pulled up the sill plates/ rocker panels to run new wiring. However if you just trace the wiring from all the speakers back to the head (use the coding) splice those to the new head. Once you cut the amps out of the loop you'll be just fine. Then, because some of the color coding will be the same, it will just take quick trial and error to match them up (so your fade and balance work accordingly)(and your speakers are on the right channel) Since any aftermarket radio is gonna be preamped you won't have a problem pushing the watts for the new speakers. If I lost you just let me know and I'll break it down for you step by step. I have a habit of not explaining what I mean too well.
Good luck

<center><img src="http://www3.telus.net/telkey/Speaker%20wiring.JPG"></center><p>I actually tried that, and you will need to find the white and brown wire on each speaker and they go together on the ground side, and then on the passenger side you will find a red and blue wire that is the positive wire, and the drivers side has a greed and red wire that is for positive I will MS Paint something for you. You must however attach the brown and the whites together on the negative post, if you do not you will get very little sound. I believe it has somethingto do with them being a common ground type speaker system with a chasis ground. This diagram is just how it is in my 1993 100, yours may differ.

I took the easy (and relatively expensive) path, and had a local stereo shop do the conversion in my wife's '92 100CSq. We had them install an Alpine AM/FM/CD player that we removed from her old Ford Explorer, and purchased 4 Alpine speakers.

The fronts were 4" I think, maybe 4.5", and the rears were 6" x 9". They even constructed frames for the rear speakers, and covered them with matching grey grill cloth. As an added bonus, they determined that the factory CD changer was FM modulated, and could be accessed via an FM station on the Alpine.

A shop I had checked with previously, told me the CD changer was incompatible, and unusable. I looked at the CD changer manual that came with the car after the installation, and would have figured out the FM modulated capability at some point anyway, but it was nice to have them set it up.

The whole job, including 4 speakers, rewiring, 2 bass blockers for the front speakers, labor, &amp; tax, was $446 - about half of the total was for labor. Took them a little over 4 hours.

So, i was looking at the tech section in electronics, and saw the ipod ICELINK hookup for an A4. I was thinking that i might be able to do something like that for the 100cs because it has the wiring for an optional 10 disc cd changer (somewhere) any thoughts?
